Communications Manager
With great power comes great responsibility. As our Communications Manager, you’ll work closely with designers, photographers and copywriters to ensure all deadlines are met and the ideas and concepts presented to the clients are done to our exacting standards. While this is mainly a strategic and project-management role, since we’re still a small, but mighty team, you’ll sometimes need to adopt a hands-on approach, offering your copywriting superpowers in service of the greater good – keeping the client happy.
Key Responsibilities:
Developing content and directing creative execution to provide a consistent, targeted, and impactful message.
Building and maintaining solid partnerships with assigned internal clients to better develop, coordinate, direct, and facilitate strategic communications designed to meet business goals.
Designing campaigns to target specific audiences, placing an emphasis and discipline on campaign performance to help with recommendations for future programs.
Directing external graphic designers, photographers, and other media-production specialists integral to the completion of marketing projects.
Contributing ideas for new programmes, researching and recommending innovative branding techniques.
Researching and understanding key business challenges, customer behaviour, target audiences, competitive activity, and environmental factors that impact programmes within the business and assigned departments.
Providing hands-on advertising support to assigned departments, paying close attention to timelines.
Adjusting and communicating plan changes as necessary to ensure costs for materials, media, and labor are in line with the sales potential for a specific product or campaign.
Working with leadership to take the pulse of overall business activity to identify cross-marketing opportunities.
Staying informed of developments in the field of marketing and communications within the industry to foster ideas and innovation.

Strong, versatile copywriting skills
Good organisational, planning, and coordination skills
Ability to multi-task and re-prioritise as needed
Desire to take full ownership of assigned projects
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Possesses a sense of urgency; is self-motivated and detail-minded
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build collaborative relationships
Good verbal presentation, group dynamic, and facilitation skills
Proactive approach in resolving problems and issues

Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, strategic communications, or equivalent
Demonstrated experience with all types of social media (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)
Experience working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
Working knowledge of Mac and CMS experience
