Reporting to the Director of Brand & Communication, the Social Media Manager will:

Strategy:
•Help define the role and purpose of social media channels; play a key role in developing our social media strategy;
•Create and implement both short and long term improvements based on learnings from evaluation and listening activities;
•Work with teams across the organization to offer strategic counsel on social media plans for campaign activity;
•Research and advise on the suitability of new channels as they may develop.

Operational:
•Oversee day-to-day management of our social channels, attracting and deepening engagement with appropriate communities in the social space;
•Ensure that moderation is managed to a high quality at all times;
•Work closely with the Communications team to ensure we respond in a timely manner to breaking news, promoting the services and messaging of the organization where appropriate;
•Identify opportunities to position the organization as part of public discussions and debates around relevant topics;
•Work collaboratively with other areas/units in engaging with identified target audiences through the building of relationships, promotion of activities and services, provision of information, advice, comment and engagement on appropriate social websites;
•Ensure our mainstream media communications are SEO keyword-optimized and tagged and issued to online news sites and bloggers, picked up by news aggregators and amplified through our social media channels, social bookmarking in digital media;
•Execute the previously defined and approved social media strategy;
•Develop and put into place creative and innovative social media solutions.

Reporting:
•Monitor and evaluate our social performance, sharing and presenting results and insights across the organization, including campaign performance, key trends and competitor benchmarking.

Essential and desirable skills:
•Mother-tongue/bilingual English-Portuguese writer and speaker [essential];
•Excellent writing and editing skills in English (preferably an understanding of the difference between the UK and US English); [essential];
•SEO: an understanding of the link between search engine optimization (SEO) and social media reach;
•Experience in customer service;
•Good knowledge of photo editing and preferably an experience of graphic design;
•Experience of working to KPIs / and reporting on results;
•Experience of making short YouTube/iPhone videos – an understanding of the importance of video content;
•Understanding of the relationship between organic and paid media.
